Luka Kokot Is Building AI for the 99%
While most AI solutions chase scale, Luka Kokot is chasing context. And in doing so, he’s becoming one of the most important names to watch in the applied AI space.
Luka Kokot, Director of Business Innovation & Technology Investments at BroadVision Technologies, was named a UK Tech Insiders Top Talent in 2024 for AI innovation – specifically for his work creating AI middleware that solves an often-ignored problem: how SMEs can make sense of their fragmented, unstructured data without building an in-house data science team.
“Big companies have Chief Data Officers and $5 million analytics budgets,” says Luka Kokot. “Most businesses don’t. But they still need to make smart decisions—fast.”
This insight led him to develop a context-aware AI platform that doesn’t just crunch data but translates it into real-time, decision-ready intelligence for mid-sized businesses across sectors. Built in London, deployed across Africa and Europe, and now scaling globally, Luka Kokot’s platform is making AI usable—and useful—for organisations left out of the data arms race.
From Engineering to AI Infrastructure
Luka Kokot isn’t a career researcher or serial startup founder. His background is in Electrical Engineering and Control Systems, later layered with a Master’s in Management focused on the strategic use of Artificial Intelligence. That mix of systems thinking and executive logic would eventually become the backbone of his AI design philosophy: intelligent systems that solve actual business bottlenecks.
After several years working on digital infrastructure projects across South Africa, Luka Kokot recognised a persistent issue: companies had data—but no coherent way to interpret or act on it. Departments ran separate tools, reports weren’t centralised, and leadership decisions were made on instinct rather than insight.
“The data existed. The tools existed. But the bridge didn’t,” he says.
So, he built one.
A New Breed of AI Middleware
Luka Kokot’s flagship innovation is BroadVision’s AI-assisted middleware: a lightweight, plug-and-play platform that connects siloed systems and surfaces unified, AI-powered dashboards. Think Zapier meets Tableau—with a deep layer of intelligence designed for businesses without dedicated data teams.
Unlike most “AI” solutions aimed at SMEs, Luka’s platform doesn’t offer vague automation or generic predictions. It ingests data across CRMs, ERPs, and custom tools—then contextualises it using proprietary AI logic trained on sector-specific workflows.
“This isn’t about asking ChatGPT for advice,” he explains. “It’s about feeding your own operational data into a system that actually understands what success looks like for you.”
Originally launched in the hospitality sector—where high-volume operations and decentralised data made for the perfect testing ground—the platform has now expanded into retail, logistics, and services. Its early success is already attracting global partnerships and attention from enterprise integrators looking for a real-world AI solution they can actually implement.
Recognition, Traction, and What’s Next
That real-world traction is what earned Luka his place among UK Tech Insights’ Top Talents in AI for 2024—an annual shortlist recognising founders, engineers, and thinkers reshaping the UK’s tech ecosystem.
The award’s citation described Luka Kokot as “a rare blend of technical talent and applied vision—a builder of systems that move beyond hype into measurable value.”
The team behind the middleware is now expanding into the US and UAE, with new offices in New York and Dubai launching this year. Luka Kokot continues to lead both product and go-to-market strategy, building international teams while still architecting platform features alongside his engineers
His roadmap includes a series of enhancements aimed at non-technical decision-makers: natural language interfaces, embedded predictive models, and a “strategic intelligence layer” that provides boardroom-level insights without needing a data science degree to interpret them.
“We’re not here to automate for the sake of it,” Luka says. “We’re here to turn operational chaos into strategic clarity.”
Why Luka Kokot Matters Now
In a market flooded with generative AI startups chasing novelty, Luka’s brand of intelligence is refreshingly grounded. He’s not building AI to impress investors—he’s building it to solve the practical, daily problems of under-resourced businesses trying to grow in volatile markets.
He’s also part of a new cohort of AI leaders focused on accessibility and inclusion—believing that AI shouldn’t just sit in the hands of tech giants, but serve as infrastructure for everyday decision-making.
His work aligns closely with the growing shift in the UK tech space: from moonshot algorithms to usable intelligence.
“The goal isn’t to replace human decision-making,” he says. “It’s to elevate it—with data that’s finally working for you.”
Our Selection Procedure
Each year, UK Tech Insider identifies a shortlist of standout individuals across the UK digital technology ecosystem whose work demonstrates measurable innovation, leadership, and real-world application. The Top Talent in AI feature is a curated editorial series that spotlights those using artificial intelligence not as hype, but as an enabler of tangible business transformation.
Luka Kokot was selected by our editorial team following an internal review of over 120 founders, engineers, and technologists working in applied AI. His nomination was based on platform traction data, visibility across the UK and African SME sectors, and third-party references from enterprise clients and integration partners.
The selection was wholly independent and based on merit; there was no paid media, sponsorship or PR submission involved.
Luka’s inclusion reflects both his growing reputation as a builder of intelligent systems and his emerging influence in the UK’s enterprise AI landscape.
