UI prototyping typically entails iterating and mixing components from examples equivalent to screenshots and sketches, however present instruments supply restricted help for incorporating these examples. Impressed by the cognitive technique of conceptual mixing, we introduce a novel UI workflow that permits builders to quickly incorporate numerous features from design examples into work-in-progress UIs. We prototyped this workflow as Misty. By an exploratory first-use research with 14 frontend builders, we assessed Misty’s effectiveness and gathered suggestions on this workflow. Our findings counsel that Misty’s conceptual mixing workflow helps builders kickstart inventive explorations, flexibly specify intent in numerous phases of prototyping, and evokes builders by means of serendipitous UI blends. Misty demonstrates the potential for instruments that blur the boundaries between builders and designers.
